Ninth stage – Arbatax/Orosei

The stage is short because in overcome the highest point of the Flamingo’s Roads: the Genna Silana Pass (1.023 m)!

After the start you stay on the flat for about ten kilometers, then the long climb that leads to the Pass begins and from that moment, for about sixty kilometers, there will be only pure nature!

It is true that at the 15th kilometer you pass through the few houses of Baunei; it is also true that at the 35th km there is an intersection… but then, everything else is just unspoiled nature and earthly paradise!

The road continues to rise until it reaches 700 meters in height when it enters a plateau where the only intersection above (bv di Urzulei – km. 34.6) is located.

You continue to climb until you reach the thousand and more meters of the Genna Silana pass and from this peak the road begins to descend gently and continuously for about forty kilometers.

The panorama becomes mountainous and the sea is now very far away or is hidden, while you can enjoy, always in sight, the real attraction of the stage: the white mountains of the Supramonte di Orgosolo and the famous Gorroppu Gorge with its sheer walls!

Just before entering the town of Dorgali, if desired, you can make a very short detour to cross an illuminated tunnel and stop immediately outside it in a panoramic square from which to enjoy Cala Gonone and all those sea cliffs that contain an infinite number of famous places (the Bue Marino Cave, Cala Gonone, Cala Sisine, etc.).

After crossing Dorgali, you continue to descend practically to Orosei: the end of the stage is in Orosei Marina, right in front of the hotel that will host the lucky participants.

It must have been another unforgettable day and to be framed!
